     The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games came to an end on February 20. During the Winter Olympic Games, China won 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze in the short track speed skating events. 

      The Chinese short track speed skating team can achieve such excellent results, can not leave the coach, athletes unremitting efforts, also can not leave the support of high-tech equipment, including helmets. 

     As we all know, the helmet is the indispensable equipment to protect the short track speed skaters’body safe, and it plays an important role in the athletes’wind resistance. As far as the Tongmao Linear Motor series is concerned, in the past, our country relied on imports for short track speed skating helmets. These helmets are not highly suitable for Chinese athletes in some respects. For this reason, the Wang Jia Dao team of the state key laboratory of tribology at Tsinghua University has been commissioned to develop drag reduction and optimization helmets for typical speeds of Chinese athletes. The team has 3d scanned and modeled the optional 2010 and 2013 helmets, after analyzing the aerodynamic drag and flow field characteristics through computational fluid dynamics simulation, the team designed an aerodynamic drag reduction optimization scheme for the short track helmet based on the micro structure pressure drop drag reduction mechanism, the helmet surface was processed by the flexible structure fabrication technology, and the wind resistance was measured in the comprehensive wind tunnel of the Erqi training base using a 3D printed human model, compared with the helmet used by the Chinese short track speed skating team in the Pingchang Winter Olympics, the resistance reduction rate is 8% . 

     When it comes to helmet optimization, it can be said to be closely related to linear motors, linear motors in computer peripherals, printers, scanners and other practical applications.
