Recently, COSCO Guangdong Ocean heavy industry successfully undertook a major project, namely the construction of 1 MW Wave Power Platform Project. 

     It is reported that for a long time, offshore islands and reefs mostly use diesel to generate electricity, which has the disadvantages of high noise and serious pollution (burning fuel will emit exhaust gas) , while after the construction of the 1 MW Wave Energy Platform, it can be used on remote islands and reefs in the South China Sea, providing a new solution for diesel power generation in remote islands and reefs to realize green energy substitution. The equipment will greatly increase the total installed capacity of renewable energy on offshore islands and reefs, and lay the technical foundation and accumulate experience for the large-scale application of wave energy equipment. 

     When it comes to wave power, linear motors have been used in a number of practical cases. A hydrofoil-mounted floating platform designed by Trident Energy, a British company, has a linear motor inside it. Each of the platforms can generate 1 MW of electricity. The test was carried out in 2009. The archimedes wave energy conversion device developed in the Netherlands makes use of the relative motion of the pressure difference between the wave crest and the wave trough to drive the linear motor to generate electricity. Sweden is also developing floating direct-drive point-absorption wave energy generators, also using linear motors. During the 11th FIVE-YEAR PLAN PERIOD, Guangzhou Institute of Energy, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) carried out the research and development of wave energy device based on a 10kW float linear motor. In the future, the application of linear motor in wave power generation will be more and more mature .
